Pay should be used as an incentive to attract our best and brightest to the system of education as instructors and sources of inspiration. Compensation absolutely should be decided in terms of value provided, and adjustments made accordingly and continuously.
For sheer pleasure it’s tough to beat my current gig making fine wines and luxury resorts, but for something more meaningful I wouldn’t mind a chance to shake up the U.N. (so long as I could have weekends off and take long summer vacations with my family).
