questions for AARON SCHWARTZ
Aaron Schwartz. Photograph courtesy of the subject. click image to enlarge Name:
Aaron Schwartz.
Marital status:
Single.
Education:
I went to university in San Diego, California, so I could wear shorts and go to the beach.
Residence:
Italy, New York City, and Arizona.
Vitae:
Global President of Polo Ralph Lauren Footwear.
Dream job:
To work full-time in philanthropy without using my name.
Can it be said that one is overpaid?
Never. But, pay attention: for many, money is not the driving force in life.
What are the limitations of wealth, if any?
True talent: you cannot buy that. Real style: it has no value, age, or sex.
What is your favorite way of spending money on lifestyle?
On my niece and my two sisters, and on culinary delights.
Shoe Factories, my kitchen, the beach, and my garden in Arizona.
Favorite cities:
Not in order, I love them all for different reasons: New York, Berlin, Antwerp, London, Madrid, Moscow, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Paris.
Favorite artist:
Not in order—I love art, and each of these artists for different reasons: Frank Gehry, Edward Hopper, Sally Mann, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Henry Matisse, the Stein Twins, Davide Pizzigoni and Gerhard Richter.
What would you wear to The Oscars?
A black custom-made tailored suit, crisp white shirt, no tie, and my hand made Swarovski crystal-encrusted silk slip-on shoes.
Is sartorial appearance equally as important as one’s character or substance?
Absolutely NO!
Favorite fashion designer?
Not in order, I love them all for different reasons: Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Dries Van Noten, Zac Posen, and my private tailor in NYC.
If you could wear any outfit to work, what would it be and why?
Cargo pants or jeans, flip flop sandals, cotton t-shirt, and a v-neck cashmere sweater. If I could not wear flip-flops, I would wear a pair of old handmade alligator moccasins without socks, because they’re comfortable, and easy.
Frase da mettere in mezzo la pagina: what is the message you would most like to communicate to the world?
Life is short. Live without regret!
