Dream Job Sailing around the world

J.P. Morgan was not only a philanthropist but also a refined intellectual and a man with many curiosities.  These qualities are even more rare in the world we live in.

Can it be said that one is ever overpaid?
One is worth what someone else is willing to pay them. On the other hand if people know their worth and they are honest about it, they will also know when they are overpaid. Usually being overpaid does not last long!

What was J.P. Morgan’s legacy as a philanthropist and why is this kind of person a rarity in today’s financial arena?
There are many great philanthropists in the financial world today, but what made J.P. Morgan special was the fact that he was not only a philanthropist but also a refined intellectual and a man with many curiosities.  These qualities are even more rare to find in the world we live in.

What are the limitations of wealth, if any?
Limitations are limitations, whether wealth-related or not.  Nonetheless, the biggest limitations of wealth are taking things for granted and not enjoying the best things in life. The best things in life are simple and not expensive; –people often forget this.

What is your favorite way of spending money on lifestyle?
Traveling the world with no plans and buying things for my boathouse in NYC — that architect and friend Misa Poggi and landscaper Ermanno Casasco helped me build!

What are your favorite hangouts?
The Umaid Bahwan Palace in Jodhpur, Yacout in Marrakech, Colombier beach in St Bart’s, and the Exuma Islands!

Favorite cities Jodhpur, Marrakech, Assouira, Jaipur and New York City

Dream vacation
Sailing … not only a dream.  I do it!

Favorite artist
Carlos Araujo.  He paints scenes from the Bible and will bring his exhibition around the world soon. Also Arnaldo Pomodoro, Maria Teresa Meloni and Laura Panno!

What would you wear to the Oscars?
501’s with a navy double-breasted custom blazer made from the best fabrics in the world: Loro Piana.  A white linen and cotton shirt, a blue tie (I only wear blue ties) and custom shoes from John Lobb.

Is sartorial appearance equally as important as one’s character or substance?
In Italy we say, “l’abito non fa il monaco.” It means that wearing a cassock does not make you a priest.  One should dress so that they feel as comfortable as they do in their own skin.  For me it means a good tailor and a shirt maker and an old pair of shoes!  There is nothing like old shoes!

Favorite fashion designer
Angela Missoni.  She is a fantastic human being!

If you could wear any outfit to work, what would it be and why?
I cannot disclose this; my boss would fire me on the spot!
